Would you like to help people in your community during the COVID-19 crisis? We've launched Corona Helpers, a new website where individuals can pledge their support and COVID-19 support groups can recruit and manage volunteers. Visit www.corona-helpers.co.uk. This means that we may take a little longer to reply to contact requests about opportunities that are not related to COVID-19 support, so please bear with us and thank you for your patience.

Volunteer Drivers

Frome Community Cars

Name: Volunteer Drivers
Organisation: Frome Community Cars
Location: C/o Frome Town Council, Frome Town Hall, Christchurch St West, Frome, Somerset, BA11 1EB
Type: Part Time
Commitment is flexible - anything from once a month to a few times a week

Frome Community Cars is looking for people with a valid driving license to provide lifts for people in need. There does not have to be a regular commitment - anything from once a month to once a week enables people who can't easily access transport to get to medical appointments and the other services they need. Expenses are covered and volunteers can claim 45p per mile. If you don't have your own car we can arrange access to a car club vehicle and also have access to a wheelchair vehicle. We currently have 300 registered members and need more drivers to help meet this demand. Our team of drivers often find their involvement very rewarding and new friendships have begun as a result.
