Commitment is flexible - anything from once a month to a few times a week
Frome Community Cars is looking for people with a valid driving license to provide lifts for people in need. There does not have to be a regular commitment - anything from once a month to once a week enables people who can't easily access transport to get to medical appointments and the other services they need. Expenses are covered and volunteers can claim 45p per mile. If you don't have your own car we can arrange access to a car club vehicle and also have access to a wheelchair vehicle. We currently have 300 registered members and need more drivers to help meet this demand. Our team of drivers often find their involvement very rewarding and new friendships have begun as a result.
Frome's volunteer driver scheme.
The scheme aims to provide affordable transport for those unable to access the things they need to due to physical disability, lack of resources or lack of services.
Get on well with people.
This opportunity enables volunteers to meet new people, help people in need to access the things they need, helps to reduce isolation and supports the local community.
