Taunton Team Chaplaincy has a need for a volunteer to help with fund raising. External grants need to be obtained to meet running expenses in addition to donations from churches and private individuals. The work would involve working with the chair of trustees and Lead Chaplain to identify sources of grant funding and writing grant applications. Creative ideas for attracting donations would also be welcome. The person will be sympathetic to the caring and compassionate nature of our work. We an organisation with a Christian ethos but will help everyone. Although the work will not be needed all the time, other than keeping an eye on grant opportunities, it should not involve more than 1-2 hours per week on average. Ability to do on line work would be important.
Taunton Team Chaplaincy (TTC’s) provides volunteer chaplains in workplace and community settings in Taunton. 33 chaplains provide pastoral care and a listening ear for staff and members of the public people with everyday problems and mental health issues. Current beneficiaries are staff in 81 shops, 3 large offices; residents and staff in 6 care homes; rail travellers and vulnerable people at the railway station and the marginalised (homeless and young adults). TTC have an ambition to provide chaplains at the courts in Taunton. TTC is a Christian organisation but volunteers will help those of any faith or none at all and be compassionate and caring. 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of starting our work.
Someone who supports the aims of Taunton Team Chaplaincy to provide help and compassion to people in difficulty in the community. Ideally the person should have experience of fund raising for the voluntary sector or have a background in finance. However these skills can be acquired for someone with motivation to help and training may be offered, and the benefit of fund raising experience will be provided.
The experience would be useful for helping other charities in future because the basics and strategies for fund raising are common to most charities. The person doing this would gain great satisfaction from helping a charity to continue to do its work which has the wellbeing of our fellow men and women at its heart.
